I have always been interested in just how powerful networking protocol can be to the home business start up operator. Many think that networking is just ‘meeting and greeting’ a variety of people. But it is much, much more than that. One of the most poorly achieved skills of the home business start up operators is in the ‘follow up’ process; yet without it, the time spent at networking is literally wasted.
One of the best ways to find out how to successfully network, is to find out how effective networkers develop a networking protocol that works! Our expert, Maz Schirmer of Amazing Mind Wealth, shares with you why she is so successful. For 43 years Maz has held the record for achieving the highest sales in Australia and New Zealand for a cosmetic company; she attributes her success to developing relationships through networking.
You can read more of her ‘secrets’ and copy them to strengthen your own skills.

Networking Protocol by Maz Schirmer
Good networking leads to not only sales but a relationship and that leads to FUTURE sales.
Rapport is just harmonious relating.
Let me get specific here because it can make the difference that makes the difference in a big deal.
I for example, talk fast and can be loud. If someone is a very quiet and timid personality that uses slow regulated speech, they might find me aggravating whereas I might find them too slow for me to hold the kind of conversation I enjoy. Well ok, if your at a party then you will flock to your similar style but in business, you cannot just do that. You want everyone’s money basically if they want your benefits.
Have you ever heard of the ‘law of requisite variety’? It means that the person with the most flexibility will get what they want. It is up to you, not them to be able to recognise when you need to adjust something that isn’t working or that you notice won’t work. For example, if I was wanting this beauty client to purchase a complete $750 collection and she talks quietly and spaces her words and obviously takes things in more slowly, I will match her. I then know to talk softly, slowly and paced. Simple when you realise that this shows enormous respect for the other person. They think you ‘feel’ familiar even. It’s wonderfully rewarding and so successful.
Rapport is not just based on voice etc., it’s about posture and all manner of things that bring about a heightened sense of awareness and understanding of others. It’s the ultimate in amazing communication that leads to amazing business growth and reputation and referrals and future business.
Business is about people and always will be. It’s vital to remember that there are many different personalities but when you can quickly sum somebody up you can be more personalised in your approach. That is all well and good to use rapport when selling, but my real strength is in relating in such a way with my hundreds of female business team members, that I can motivate, inspire and get them making money and feeling fulfilled because they are achieving their individual goals.

Thank you – I had not realised the importance of networking in the success of my business
Networking can be hard, but people must think not about what others can do for them, but first ask what they can do for others. Building a good trusting relationship will have immediate benefits and almost guarantee future sales too. Thanks for your insight!
