Are you ready to start a home based business? There is a great little book available to help you decide whether or not this move is suitable for you. There is even a quiz you can do to see if your score shows that you have the right attitude to be a business operator.
Most business operators have a high level of skill enabling them to produce a good product or service. But many have no business skills at all. You have to consider the financial aspects, marketing, IT, Software etc. etc.
One of the first steps you should take is to join an association that is designed to assist you in the home based sector and join another that specialises in your industry. This will be money well spent as associations exist to support and care for their members and they provide specialist advice to suit your needs.
It is important that you have the passion and excitement needed to see you through the tough times, as there will be many of them. That is why it is difficult to succeed with a home business start up if you are just ‘testing the water’ and are not rally committed to succeed.
Be prepared to do your research and read as much as you can from people who have ‘been there and done that’. Check out different websites that specialise in starting up a business. They often have free product and services and can save you a great deal of time by recommending the best and most cost effective tools, to get your business up and running.
This blog has many articles that will be helpful to home business start up operators. There are a number of successful business operators (many of them winners of awards) making comments and providing articles. Spend some time to read and enrich your knowledge as you progress down this exciting path you have chosen.
I have been working with the HBB sector for years and I never cease to be amazed at the passion and commitment they make to their business. If you are a ‘newbie’ to this sector you should be motivated by many of the stories you will find in this blog form ‘like minded’ business operators who have ‘been there and done that’.

Nice Site and blog. Some Interesting posts keep up the good work, I will bookmark and visit again
I would like to run a home based business but I wonder what type of work i can do…..
Deepak, the main thing to consider when running a HBB is “is it something you are passionate about” and “is it based on skills that you have”. Once you have worked this out, then the next important thing is “how do I market this business?” If you would like some help with thisa let me know at barbara@hbba.biz
